I was putting my TX air show dates in my calendar for next year (yeah, I'm that much of an air show geek), and I see that the Red Bull Air Races are coming to Texas Motor Speedway next September. I've never seen the air races, so I think I'll check it out. Anybody ever been to one of these events?

Saw them in San Diego several years ago. Whenever they did their first US tour.
It was pretty cool. Worth at least seeing once.

It is one of those sports where it is better on TV (like the Long Beach grand prix for instance...) but I have been a few times (in San Diego) and thoroughly enjoyed the event. Those planes are nuts, fast and it reminds me of 1960s F1 where the physics of going fast haven't been written down, computer simulated and solved with little boys trained by reflex - quite the opposite lots of older accomplished dudes do well because they are smart enough not to die and they have learned (not been taught) how to be fast.
